Put on your dancing shoes and join in a St Austell town dance for charity
Mon 8th May 2017
Willing volunteers are needed to take part in a
major dance performance happening in the heart of St Austell to help raise
money for vital children’s charities.
Dynamic dance school 4 Funx Sake Youth Dance has teamed up with St Austell shopping
centre White River Place to organise the break-out dance performance event called
St Austell Town Dance in the centre
of the town on June 24th, as one of many events taking place locally
for the UK-wide One
Great Day fundraising event.
Participants can come along to a number of free
dance classes being held throughout May and June to learn the dance routine
ahead of the live performance, and the aim is for those dancers taking part to
be sponsored by their friends and family, helping to raise money for two major
charities – Children’s Hospice South West and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Hurst, Manager of White River Place, said: “Every
year we support the fantastic One Great Day fundraising initiative as part of a
centre-wide effort led by our parent company Ellandi, and each year we try to
come up with new, fun ways of raising money here in St Austell, working in
partnership with supportive local organisations.
“This year, as well as many other planned events, we’re
delighted to be teaming up with the energetic 4 Funx Sake team and putting on
what we expect to be a fantastic show for St Austell, with dozens of dancers performing
in the middle of town.
“We’re urging people to get involved now and sign up
to perform, and then get sponsored for their brave efforts. There are free
classes led by 4 Funx Sake to help people learn the routine and this is open to
everyone, of all ages and all abilities.”
Details of more planned events for One Great Day in
St Austell will follow soon.
4 Funx Sake is a hip hop and street dance school
based at The Keay Theatre at Cornwall College in St Austell, which also teaches
all dance styles from ballet and jazz to commercial and contemporary, and
caters for all ages, with special adult dance classes as well.
Two blocks of three, free classes for those who want
to learn the dance routine will be run
on May 8th, 15th and 22nd and June 5th, 12th and 19th from 4.30pm – 5.30pm at
Studio 4 in The Keay Theatre at Cornwall College.
